Spiderlike atraxids come from Zulphan and belong to the Szandite Collective. Six limbs support them while two handle delicate work, a useful arrangement for a people celebrated for craftsmanship and technology. Their traditions include intricate dances, formal etiquette and a love of puzzles. They were the Collective's first starship builders. An atraxid encounter might involve brilliant engineering, magnificent jewellery and a conversation that turns out to have been a brainteaser halfway through.
