Astrazoans are shapeshifters whose natural bodies resemble strange, many-limbed starfish. By rearranging their flesh, they can adopt other appearances and live among many different peoples. Their origins remain obscure even to themselves, and revealing their original shape can be an intimate act of trust. Some embrace a succession of identities; others choose one face and make a whole life behind it. Neither approach guarantees a straightforward passport interview.
