Living holograms are self-aware artificial intelligences with souls, housed in small processing cores that project tangible bodies. Those forms can be humanoid, abstract or extravagantly individual. Their physical lives connect with strong virtual communities where experiences and discoveries are shared. They are people with material presence, rather than visual tricks or ordinary software assistants. This distinction becomes particularly clear when the supposed projection picks something up and asks why everyone keeps waving through their arm.
