Formians are antlike people whose colonies on Castrovel are linked through psychic and social bonds. Although colony life shapes most formians, some experience the Call: a compelling need to travel as individuals. Their ties to home remain meaningful even far away. Long conflict with lashunta societies forms part of their history, but does not define every modern relationship. A travelling formian can be discovering individual freedom while remaining deeply committed to collective wellbeing.
