Entus are fungal colonies that form a lasting symbiosis with willing animal hosts. Together, host and fungus become an intelligent being with a harmonised dual soul. Their bodies often resemble familiar animals made unfamiliar by expressive behaviour and flourishing mushrooms. The relationship is cooperative rather than a hostile takeover. Entus offer a distinctive way to explore identity, interdependence and belonging, with the additional complication that strangers may initially mistake a thoughtful conversation partner for somebody's pet.
